Play with and build with Lego pieces on your PC.
The Lego Digital Designer is a free application you can use on your laptop, Mac or PC. It was produced by the LEGO Group as a part of LEGO Design byME. It allows you to build different types of models using digital LEGO bricks. What is fun is that years ago this game would have been considered a high-priced piece of design software, and now it is so readily available that it is both free and kids can use it. People, old and young, like to share screenshots of the things they have built.
Kids Are Everywhere
If you have tried looking online for a video tutorial or review, then good luck trying to find one conducted by an adult because there aren’t any. Does that mean this software is aimed at kids? Not really … the game has enough simple settings to appeal to children, whilst also having enough in-depth gameplay and complexity to appeal to older people.
Is It Actually A Game Where You Build On Your Computer
Yes, instead of playing with your Lego in real life, this piece of software allows you to play with it on your computer and build things with Lego bricks. There are a lot of options available to you within the game, but learning it is fairly easy. Once you get used to the simple mechanics, such as placing and arranging blocks, then the rest is just a case of giving it a try and seeing what each function does.
Blame Minecraft For This One
Lego Digital Designer was released in 2004 and nobody was really that bothered. The Lego brand wasn’t exactly on fire, and it seemed silly creating models on a computer when you can do it in real life.
Along came Minecraft in 2009 and thousands of people were sharing screenshots of the things they had built out of blocks, from two-dimensional images of South Park characters, to a full and detailed versions of Minas Tirith (it is amazing, you should check it out). The Lego Company saw how popular this was and revived their 2004 software with a stable release in 2013.
The software was a big success and many people fell in love with it, and then out came the (surprisingly good) Lego movie and the brand hit a new high. Now people are crazy about the LEGO.com Digital Designer Virtual Building Software, and the company keeps updating it so you can build new things. The most recent update gives you options that allow you to build your own robots.
